Obasanjo Predicts Buhari Is Nigeria’s Next President

Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has predicted that Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari will be elected on 28 March as Nigeria’s new president, to succeed incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan, PM News reports.

At the same time, he dismissed fears of any election annulment as it happened in 1993, under the Babangidaadministration, when the election of Moshood Kashimawo Abiola was annulled by the military junta.

Obasanjo spoke in Abeokuta, Ogun state today, when he met a group that styles itself, Concerned Citizens of Nigeria.

According to the former Nigerian leader, there will never be a repeat of what happened in the country in 1993 after the Presidential election.

Obasanjo declared that he has confidence in the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential candidate, GeneralMuhammed Buhari because he was a trained military officer.

The group called on the former President to intervene in the country’s looming political crisis before matters degenerate.

“We have come to express our deep concern over series of dangerous political miscalculations currently going on under Jonathan administration.

“We are afraid that crisis is seriously looming and it is like another June 12 crisis is on the way and it may be very tragic for the country. We want you to as a matter of urgency intervene into the matter before it is too late sir,” the group opined.

In his response, the former President allayed their anxieties, saying that the 2015 election will never be like the June 1993 election.

“You need not to worry about anything. There can never be any June 12 annulment again. Buhari is not Abiola, he is a trained and highly intelligent soldier.

“Oyegun is not Anenih, Osinbajo is not Kingibe. Jega is not Nwosu, Jonathan is not IBB and this time around, Obasanjo will not support any interim government.

“Obasanjo will rather support a free, fair and credible election.”

N11bn Scam: Ex-Kogi Gov Audu attacks EFCC operative in court

Find the EFCC press statement below...
A former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, who is being prosecuted at a Federal Capital Territory High Court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, for his alleged involvement in a contract scam to the tune of eleven billion naira, today threw decorum to the dogs when he ordered his security aide (a police officer) to assault an operative of the EFCC, Haruna Ashade, for daring to take his photograph in court.

Ashade, a member of the EFCC team assigned to cover the proceedings, was carrying out his lawful duties when Audu’s aide descended on him. The sudden realisation that his image might have been captured by the cameraman, incensed Prince Audu.

Seething with rage, he demanded for the camera, when Ashade refused to hand the equipment over to the accused person, Prince Audu called on one of his aides, a police inspector, to forcefully collect the camera from Ashade and delete his pictures from it. A scuffle ensured which threw the court into confusion. Audu’s aide rained blows on Ashade, in the attempt to snatch the camera from him.

It took the personal intervention of Justice Ademola Adeniyi who was about coming out of his chambers to restore order. Justice Adeniyi sent one of his assistants and his orderly to restrain Prince Audu’s aide. He was said to have ordered the release of the camera for it to be kept in the custody of the court until after the sitting. Ashade obliged them. However, to the dismay of officials of the EFCC, when the camera was released, all the pictures taken in court had been deleted! When the case was finally called, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, pleaded for a short adjournment for reasons of non availability of his witnesses in court.

He told the court that, he was at the Court of Appeal till late yesterday, March 3, and was not aware that the bank witnesses to be called are not available. He informed the court that the prosecution will be bringing new witnesses to testify. Responding, counsel to the first accused, Patrick Ikwueto, SAN, said that, if the prosecution has other witnesses not contained in the proof of evidence, there is a need for defendants to be served with their statement.

The case has been adjourned to Friday, March 6, 2015 for continuation of trial. Prince Audu is being prosecuted alongside a former Director General of the Directorate of Rural Development in his administration, Alfa Ibn Mustapha, for offences bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N10,965,837,040 (ten billion, nine hundred and sixty five million, eight hundred and thirty seven thousand and Forty Naira).

News; INEC may reprint ballot papers

There are reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may have to reprint ballot papers for the forthcoming elections to accommodate a political party which was not listed among duly registered parties by the commission, National Mirror reports.
This follows the ruling of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja which  ordered INEC to include the Young Democratic Party (YDP) among duly registered  political parties.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed made the order in his judgment on the suit filed by the party, challenging its denial of registration by INEC.
Justice Mohammed said that The Young Democratic Party (YDP) was believed registered when INEC failed to inform the then political association‎ of its decision not to register it as a political party within 30 days of receiving its application, as required under Section 78 (4) of the Electoral Act, 2010‎.
INEC was said to have received the association’s application on April 1, 2014 but only notified the applicant of its decision not to register it on September 15, 2014. (National Mirror)

I won’t go commercial; Let others do Shoki music and Make Money – Says Mode 9

Mode 9 is one of Nigeria’s most notable rappers and
lyricists ,however, many feel he needs to change his style
of rap and go commercial like Ice Prince ,Olamide and even
MI…However, he veteran rapper says he won’t be
pressured into changing his style. He told the Nigerian
Tribune
Mode 9 is cool, still doing music and still relevant in the
industry. My recent single, ‘Dobale’, a rap in pidgin, is
trending and my fans love it. I released my album early last
year, even though some media organisations refused to
support us, just as these set of gate keepers have not given
due recognition to our kind of music, but we are still
pushing on. I have noticed that the industry does not like
some kind of raps, but I will not relent in doing what I do
best. I have been in the industry for a while now and
records have it that I have an impact in the growth of the
industry. However, I’m still working and doing music. On
why he doesn’t go commercial
I have heard that said too, but it isn’t totally true. Fuji and
juju music are still selling. Are they commercial music?
Gospel music is selling here and we all listen and love it.
Is it also commercial music? Of course not! I promoted my
songs with the resources I have. Today’s music demands
that you spend millions in promoting your songs and
shooting videos. If I shoot the video of “Babatunde”, or any
other in Las Vegas, and bring Jay Z or Nas to have
collaboration with me, that kind of a thing will make a buzz
because of the place and the artistes involved. But should
these kinds of music accompany our music? Today’s
music is evil, they say, but who made it evil? What I’m
trying to say is that my kind of rap, which people used to
love sometime ago, may not be loved today, but that
doesn’t change my music. I’ll continue to do what I love
doing and what seems right with me and my fans. Let
others do ‘Shoki music and make their money, I’ll also
make mine in style.
Your hiphop is not on the frontline?
It’s not that it is not on the frontline, television. Reggae
music is suffering same. It is a bandwagon effect.
Everybody is doing danceable music, but what about other
genres of music? I released my album ‘Alphabetical Order’
early 2014 and some people said I was not doing the kind
of music that sells. I ask the question; which kind of music
sells? The problem is that we don’t encourage or support
people’s dreams in this country. Instead of appreciating the
intellect behind a successful work or effort, some tend to
castigate, and even be sentimental about things. Mind you,
I am not saying we should not give room for criticism, but
it is sometimes done to condemn what one has vigorously
done.
Why did you say that the media refused to support your
music?
I did not say that please. Don’t get me wrong. This is one
of my grouses with some journalists. You will discover that
an innocent interview you granted has been twisted. This
is why I have decided to be conscious of whatever I say
during an interview. I had even made up my mind not to
grant any interview again because I know people are only
interested in negative reports, which is very embarrassing,
but I need the support too. It is natural to feel bad when
you discover that what you said has been twisted,
especially in a controversial way and people begin to insult
you without even reading the article because of some crazy
headline. I never said the media or a section of the media
refused to support my career.

You are Nigeria’s number one enemy - Fayose blasts Obasanjo

Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti State governor has described
former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the number one
enemy of Nigeria, saying: “He is a confusionist who has
lost his status as a statesman and Nigerians should simply
ignore him.
” The governor, who expressed confidence that President
Goodluck Jonathan will be reelected to complete his eight
year-term, added: “Obasanjo is only fighting President
Jonathan because he prevented him (Obasanjo) from ruling
Nigeria from his Ota Farm.”
In a statement issued yesterday by his Special Assistant
on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka,
Governor Fayose said: “Obasanjo is a cancer that may
never get cured in a lifetime. The moment Obasanjo is not
the one controlling a house, he will want the house pulled
down but this time around, he has failed.
“Obasanjo has always benefited from the misfortune of
others and he is living with the impression that he is the
wisest person in the whole world. When Murtala
Mohammed was murdered in 1976, Obasanjo was the
beneficiary. In 1993, he said the acclaimed winner of the
June 12, 1993 presidential election, late Chief MKO Abiola,
was not the messiah Nigeria needed. Instead of Obasanjo
to join the clamour for the actualisation of Abiola’s
mandate, Obasanjo was canvassing for an Interim National
Government, which he schemed to head.
“MKO Abiola died in detention in 1998 and Obasanjo
became the beneficiary of his (Abiola) death. Despite the
fact that it was the blood of MKO Abiola that Obasanjo
marched on to power, not even a street was named after
Abiola throughout Obasanjo’s eight years as president.
“Today, Obasanjo is fighting President Jonathan, the man
who has done what he failed to do for Abiola, the Yoruba
people and Nigerians as a whole when he was president for
eight years, simply because he does not want anyone to
equal his record as Nigeria’s longest serving president.
“President Jonathan has made it impossible for Obasanjo
to run his presidency for him and for this reason, he is
supporting Buhari, hoping that he will be the one to
nominate ministers for Buhari if he becomes president.
However, I have this bad news for Obasanjo. Nigeria is not
his football that he can kick around as he likes. President
Jonathan will be reelected and Nigeria will be freed from
Obasanjo’s bondage once and for all.”

Shekau In new video.Vows to disrupt elections

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has
released a new video, threatening to disrupt
the forthcoming general election at any cost.
The latest video seemed unusual, as Shekau
was spotting a different outfit with a blue
background, while the video quality was
higher than previous releases.
“Allah will not leave you to proceed with these
elections even after us, because you are saying
that authority is from people to people, which
means that people should rule each other, but
Allah says that the authority is only to him.
Only his rule is the one which applies on this
land,” he said.
“And finally, we say that these elections that
you are planning to do, will not happen in
peace, even if that costs us our lives.”
In the video, titled ‘A message to the leaders of
the disbelievers’, Shekau also directed a
message at the regional countries coordinating
a new offensive against his group.
“You are claiming that we don’t know how to
fight, but we forced your forces to flee from
their bases and we freed our imprisoned
brothers from the prisons that you oppressed
them in. Only praise be to Allah,” he said.
The 15-minute film was released via the
group’s newly created Twitter account, after the
first account in the name of Alurwa Alwuthqa
was blocked in the first week of February.
Nigeria’s general elections were initially
scheduled for February 14 and 28, 2015, before
being shifted to March 28 and April 11 for
security reasons.

Lamido: If you follow social media, you would think APC has won 99% of the votes

Sule Lamido, governor of Jigawa state, says
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will defeat
the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the
general election contrary to the impression
being created in the social media.
He was speaking on Tuesday after meeting with
President Goodluck Jonathan at the
presidential villa in Abuja.
He said what Nigerians read on the social
media is different from reality.
“If you go through the social media, what
they paint is that APC has won almost 99
percent. In Nigeria?” he said.
Lamido described APC as an “amalgamation”
of desperation, saying the country is too big for
them to govern.
“What is APC? An amalgamation of pain, anger
and desperation. And this country is too big for
them,” he said.
“What is this opposition In Nigeria? You must
know Nigerian history. Nigeria cannot be
governed by an aggregate of pain, anger and
frustration. And I have been saying those called
opposition who are now abusing us, whatever
might have been our crime, it was that crime
that made them.
“We created that for them to become either
governors, or legislators, we created room for
them to emerge. So whatever they think is our
evil, they are the manifestations of the evil.
Believe me, you don’t know Nigeria.”
Lamido also described former President
Olusegun Obasanjo, who on Monday
relinquished his PDP membership card, as a
father who is angry with his children.
He said: “Baba is more than a party man. He is
an icon, a national symbol and a leader and an
inventor, a creator of all the institutions today
in Nigeria from the presidency to the governors
who are his own sons, are all his creations.
“And so, when a father is angry with his own
children, we will only say we are sorry to him.
But then we cannot be renounced for whatever
it is. If you do any political DNA of our blood,
you will find his blood in us. No matter what we
are, we may not be able to live up to his
expectations.
“We might have made some mistakes, but
abandoning us is not the solution because the
country is first before anything else. So, he is
our Baba even up to the president. Baba is our
Baba no matter what. He is angry with us, but
then, what do we do? He gave us the life at a
time when Nigerians were fighting us, he stood
for us.”
Lamido served as Obasanjo’s foreign minister
from 1999 to 2003.

Bank Hackers Steal Millions via Malware

PALO ALTO, Calif. — In late 2013, an A.T.M. in Kiev started dispensing cash at seemingly random times of day. No one had put in a card or touched a button. Cameras showed that the piles of money had been swept up by customers who appeared lucky to be there at the right moment.

But when a Russian cybersecurity firm, Kaspersky Lab, was called to Ukraine to investigate, it discovered that the errant machine was the least of the bank’s problems.

The bank’s internal computers, used by employees who process daily transfers and conduct bookkeeping, had been penetrated by malware that allowed cybercriminals to record their every move. The malicious software lurked for months, sending back video feeds and images that told a criminal group — including Russians, Chinese and Europeans — how the bank conducted its daily routines, according to the investigators.

Then the group impersonated bank officers, not only turning on various cash machines, but also transferring millions of dollars from banks in Russia, Japan, Switzerland, the United States and the Netherlands into dummy accounts set up in other countries.

In a report to be published on Monday, and provided in advance to The New York Times, Kaspersky Lab says that the scope of this attack on more than 100 banks and other financial institutions in 30 nations could make it one of the largest bank thefts ever — and one conducted without the usual signs of robbery.

The Moscow-based firm says that because of nondisclosure agreements with the banks that were hit, it cannot name them. Officials at the White House and the F.B.I. have been briefed on the findings, but say that it will take time to confirm them and assess the losses.

Kaspersky Lab says it has seen evidence of $300 million in theft through clients, and believes the total could be triple that. But that projection is impossible to verify because the thefts were limited to $10 million a transaction, though some banks were hit several times. In many cases the hauls were more modest, presumably to avoid setting off alarms.

The majority of the targets were in Russia, but many were in Japan, the United States and Europe.

No bank has come forward acknowledging the theft, a common problem that President Obama alluded to on Friday when he attended the first White House summit meeting on cybersecurity and consumer protection at Stanford University. He urged passage of a law that would require public disclosure of any breach that compromised personal or financial information.

But the industry consortium that alerts banks to malicious activity, the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center, said in a statement that “our members are aware of this activity. We have disseminated intelligence on this attack to the members,” and that “some briefings were also provided by law enforcement entities.”

The American Bankers Association declined to comment, and an executive there, Douglas Johnson, said the group would let the financial services center’s statement serve as the only comment. Investigators at Interpol said their digital crimes specialists in Singapore were coordinating an investigation with law enforcement in affected countries. In the Netherlands, the Dutch High Tech Crime Unit, a division of the Dutch National Police that investigates some of the world’s most advanced financial cybercrime, has also been briefed.

The silence around the investigation appears motivated in part by the reluctance of banks to concede that their systems were so easily penetrated, and in part by the fact that the attacks appear to be continuing.

The managing director of the Kaspersky North America office in Boston, Chris Doggett, argued that the “Carbanak cybergang,” named for the malware it deployed, represents an increase in the sophistication of cyberattacks on financial firms.

“This is likely the most sophisticated attack the world has seen to date in terms of the tactics and methods that cybercriminals have used to remain covert,” Mr. Doggett said.

As in the recent attack on Sony Pictures, which Mr. Obama said again on Friday had been conducted by North Korea, the intruders in the bank thefts were enormously patient, placing surveillance software in the computers of system administrators and watching their moves for months. The evidence suggests this was not a nation state, but a specialized group of cybercriminals.

But the question remains how a fraud of this scale could have proceeded for nearly two years without banks, regulators or law enforcement catching on. Investigators say the answers may lie in the hackers’ technique.

In many ways, this hack began like any other. The cybercriminals sent their victims infected emails — a news clip or message that appeared to come from a colleague — as bait. When the bank employees clicked on the email, they inadvertently downloaded malicious code. That allowed the hackers to crawl across a bank’s network until they found employees who administered the cash transfer systems or remotely connected A.T.M.s.

Then, Kaspersky’s investigators said, the thieves installed a “RAT”— remote access tool — that could capture video and screenshots of the employees’ computers.

“The goal was to mimic their activities,” said Sergey Golovanov, who conducted the inquiry for Kaspersky Lab. “That way, everything would look like a normal, everyday transaction,” he said in a telephone interview from Russia.

The attackers took great pains to learn each bank’s particular system, while they set up fake accounts at banks in the United States and China that could serve as the destination for transfers. Two people briefed on the investigation said that the accounts were set up at J.P. Morgan Chase and the Agricultural Bank of China. Neither bank returned requests for comment.

Kaspersky Lab was founded in 1997 and has become one of Russia’s most recognized high-tech exports, but its market share in the United States has been hampered by its origins. Its founder, Eugene Kaspersky, studied cryptography at a high school that was co-sponsored by the K.G.B. and Russia’s Defense Ministry, and he worked for the Russian military before starting his firm.

When the time came to cash in on their activities — a period investigators say ranged from two to four months — the criminals pursued multiple routes. In some cases, they used online banking systems to transfer money to their accounts. In other cases, they ordered the banks’ A.T.M.s to dispense cash to terminals where one of their associates would be waiting.

But the largest sums were stolen by hacking into a bank’s accounting systems and briefly manipulating account balances. Using the access gained by impersonating the banking officers, the criminals first would inflate a balance — for example, an account with $1,000 would be altered to show $10,000. Then $9,000 would be transferred outside the bank. The actual account holder would not suspect a problem, and it would take the bank some time to figure out what had happened.

“We found that many banks only check the accounts every 10 hours or so,” Mr. Golovanov of Kaspersky Lab said. “So in the interim, you could change the numbers and transfer the money.”

The hackers’ success rate was impressive. One Kaspersky client lost $7.3 million through A.T.M. withdrawals alone, the firm says in its report. Another lost $10 million from the exploitation of its accounting system. In some cases, transfers were run through the system operated by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, or Swift, which banks use to transfer funds across borders. It has long been a target for hackers — and long been monitored by intelligence agencies.

Mr. Doggett likened most cyberthefts to “Bonnie and Clyde” operations, in which attackers break in, take whatever they can grab, and run. In this case, Mr. Doggett said, the heist was “much more ‘Ocean’s Eleven.’ ”

Important facts about St. Valentine’s Day Celebration you didn’t know

Originally, the word Valentine meant the person whose name was picked from a box to be chosen as your sweetheart up until the 1500’s.  Then around 1533, it meant the folded piece of paper with the sweetheart’s name on it.  By 1610 it then became the gift given to this special someone and by 1824 it then became a poem, letter or verse to a sweetheart.

Although Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14 every year, it originates from the Roman celebration called Lupercalia, which was held on February 15, a fertility festival.

Roman armies invaded countries physically as well as socially.  When the Romans invaded France, they introduced this festival in which Roman boys drew names of Roman girls out of an urn (to determine their partners) and then the couple exchanged gifts on the festival’s day.  This was considered a pagan celebration.

So in 469 C.E., Pope Gelasius decided to put a Christian spin on this celebration by declaring that it was now to honour St. Valentine (A young Roman who was martyred by Emperor Claudius II who was said to have died on February 14, 270 C.E. for refusing to give up Christianity).

Why was he killed?
Rumour has it that St. Valentine was a priest who defied the emperor’s ban on marriages by marrying young people in secret.  He was discovered, and put to death.

Why was marriage banned?
According to legend in the 3rd century after Christ,  the Emperor  Claudius II did not want any of his soldiers falling in love and marrying because he felt women and families distracted the soldier’s from their duty to him. And in some cases made the men not want to go to war at all.  And he needed more soldiers so he declared marriage illegal. And anyone performing this ceremony would be killed.

The colours of Valentine’s Day are
Pink, Red and White for most cards and decorations, but is also on other Valentine commerical items like clothing, stuffed animals, candles, etc.

Red symbolizes warmth and feeling. It is associated with the colour of the human heart.

White is a symbol of purity. (In some cases also of Faith and so it means the faith of the love two people have for each other.)

And so Pink (combination of Red + White) is then a symbol of innocence or virginity in some cases.

For Ladies Only! SEE The 8 Things You Don’t Know About Postinor 2 [LOOK]

As I was going through my “ashana’s” bag some days ago and I saw three packets of POSTINOR 2 in it , I was very curious to actually know if this drug had very severe side effects to a lady so i consulted my real girlfriend “google. com” some hours later.

Postinor 2 is a medication to prevent pregnancy if you shine the sperm into the ovary, whether intentional or not.

It can prevent pregnancy 95% in the first 24 hours after intercourse, it is used as a form of emergency contraception (more commonly known as a morning after pill).

Postinor-2 is formulated to function in a manner similar to the female hormone progesterone allowing
for prevention of pregnancy if taken within a reasonable period of time.

Generally, it is recommended that Postinor-2 be taken no later than
three days after having unprotected s*x.

EFFECTS OF POSTINOR 2

1) When taken in the middle of the menstrual cycle, the preparation may inhibit ovulation.

2) The pill can cause changes in the menstrual cycle in the lady. Your next period could start earlier or later than expected and flow can be lighter or
heavier than normal.

3) It can cause nauseating feeling which occurs in approximately 25% of users vomiting

4) It can also bring about bleeding disturbances in some cases, 2-3 days following tablet ingestion

5) Sometimes it can cause breast tenderness, headache, dizziness, fatigue.

6) In the majority of cases the next period starts as expected or somewhat earlier, if the period is more than 7 days late it is recommended to perform a pregnancy test.

7) In case of prolonged or heavy bleeding, gynaecological examinations is advised.

8) If the user has a reported case of asthma, heart failure, hypertension, migraine, epilepsy, renal impairment, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemia,
depression, and / or stroke, the preparation may be used exclusively in the above mentioned emergency cases. it is not appropriate for regular use.

The manufacturer of the emergency contraceptive offers the efficiency of the pill when it is taken as directed.

Logically, the longer the interval
between unprotected s*x and taking the pill, the decrease in how effective it will be. It is estimated that Postinor-2 will prevent 85% of expected pregnancies.

95% of expected pregnancies will be prevented if taken within the first 24 hours.

So I employ every guy to always walk around with postinor2 because you never know when you will have a match because you don’t want to receive that “We need to Talk” text after 7 weeks.

APC Wishes Nigerians Happy Valentines Day

All Progressives Congress (APC) party wishes all Nigerians a happy Valentines Day as they join the rest of the world to celebrate the lovers day.

National Publicity Secretary for the Party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the insistence of PDP and Jonathan Administration that the suffering of Nigerians must be prolonged for another six weeks.

Valentines day which is a global celebration of love and affection would also marked the celebration of
freedom from the PDP servitude by all Nigerians.

Lai Mohammed statement reads;
“Saturday, Feb. 14th would have been a day of double celebration, of Valentine’s Day and of the liberation of the long-suffering people of Nigeria from the burden imposed on them by a clueless, incompetent and purposeless
PDP federal government.

“While they could not change Valentine’s Day from Feb. 14th, they have temporarily delayed the celebration of freedom by their orchestrated six-week postponement of the elections.

Nigerians should see this as a temporary setback. They should continue to maintain their unwavering enthusiasm for change by getting their PVCs ready to vote out the yoke masters.

“Nigerians must continue to insist that the elections be held as rescheduled and in line with constitutional provisions,”

War Against B'Haram: ‘116 soldiers fighting 3,000 B’Haram members’

A Nigerian soldier in the frontline of the battle
against Boko Haram is willing to lay down his
life for his country, but wants the country’s
leaders to first solve the problems of low
manpower, obsolete warfare ammunition and
underwhelming morale of soldiers.
In an interview with BBC , the soldier, whose
name and location were withheld, said he
was
ready to lay down his life for the country but
lamented that the authorities were not doing
enough to boost the morale of the troops.
“If the things I need for battle are provided, I
am
ready to go and fight those idiots,” he said.
“I am ready to fight for my country because I
don’t have any other country. We can defeat
them anytime, but logistics fail, weapons fail,
morale of the soldiers will fail because many
things are wrong.
“Anytime they attack, they must kill us,
because
we don’t have support weapons and we are
usually outnumbered.
“The Boko Haram fighters are many. About
116
soldiers are asked to fight 3,000 people, you
see the problem, how can you fight?
“We once needed reinforcement and they
sent
just 20 soldiers and they (the 20 soldiers)
refused to come because they didn’t have
weapons.
“They (Boko Haram) are using RPG, anti-
aircrafts weapons, many support weapons.
We
have only Kalashnikov and the tanks that we
have been using are since 1976.”
Speaking on the challenges at the battle front,
the soldier accused his senior colleagues of
being insensitive to the plight of their
subordinates.
“Many soldiers die in the (battlefield), there
are
many widows in my barracks; they are
suffering,” he said.
“You die one month, the next month, they
would
stop your salary, the senior men do not think
of
we soldiers. They are thinking of themselves
alone.”
When asked if he agreed that the current
regional force can defeat the sect within six
weeks, he had this to say; “I don’t agree. I
can
look on, but I can’t agree. Things are wrong;
that’s what I am telling you; that’s the truth.”

police costume “seduced” prison wardens as
police

inside the
Nova Mutum public jail, near Cuiaba, central

Sad ! Nigerien Kidnappers Sell Kidnapped Ogun School Girl To Pimps

Precious Okoro, the 15-year-old schoolgirl, who was kidnapped by a syndicate suspected to be operating
from the Niger Republic, may have been sold to a pimp in Niamey, the country’s capital. The victim’s mother, Blessing, told PUNCH
Metro that she spoke with a woman on the telephone who abused her for disturbing them with calls. She added that the unnamed woman claimed that she had bought the schoolgirl from the kidnappers.
PUNCH Metro had reported on January 27, how the Junior Secondary School three pupil was
kidnapped in the Sangotedo, Ajah area of Lagos State, after she boarded a vehicle en route to her
school in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Her father, Nwaigwe, was said to have seen his daughter enter the vehicle without suspecting
that it was owned by kidnappers.
It was reported that a few weeks later, an official of the school called Nwaigwe to say that Precious
had yet to resume since she went to Lagos. Nwaigwe told PUNCH Metro that after waiting anxiously for about three months, the family got a call from the Nigerien kidnappers, saying his daughter was in Niamey, Niger Republic. The abductors were said to have demanded the payment of $100,000 as ransom for her
release. A follow-up report by our correspondent said the kidnappers threatened to make Precious “work
for the money” if her parents refused to pay. When the mother, Blessing, spoke with PUNCH Metro on the telephone on Tuesday, she said a
woman, who spoke with her on the phone, claimed she had bought her daughter. She lamented that the Nigerian police were not doing
enough to get her daughter.
She said, “Before, the detectives promised to take us to the Commissioner of Police, but
they did not, and later, they said they
would take the case to court. We refuse that because we know if the matter gets to court, my daughter may not be foundVagain. “The kidnappers are no longer asking for money. Sometime ago, I called my daughter and she said I should stop crying, that I should be praying for her. Since that day, the line has remained unreachable.
“Another line that we tried, a man picked the call and said it was all business. He started to abuse
us and insult the family, before giving the phone to another woman, who said we can go ahead
and do whatever we wanted to do
because she was not the one that
kidnapped her from Lagos
and that she only bought her from the kidnappers.” Blessing appealed to the authorities and Nigerians to
assist the family in securing Precious’ release.
She claimed that some of the suspects in custody had links with the kidnappers and that they had
been using their lawyers to threaten the police. She said,
“Some of the suspects were arrested inVImo State and they know the kidnappers. But nobody is doing anything about my daughter.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, had yet to respond to
PUNCH Metro ’s text message as of press time.

Buhari Meets With Catholic Bishops In Abuja; Reveals He Doesn’t Have Plans To Islamize Nigeria

All Progressive Congress’ Presidential candidate, Gen.
Buhari and his VP candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo met with
some Catholic Bishops in Abuja yesterday February 10th.
During their visit, Buhari took time to assure them that his government when voted into power would not
have any major business with religion as he believed that
government shouldn’t intervene with politics. He vowed that he had no religious agenda that might in
any way affect the peace of the country. Government has no business preferring one
religion to the other. The role of government is to protect
lives and properties of citizens and to respect and protect their
constitutional rights. One critical freedom that every government must strive to protect is the
liberty for citizens to exercise their respective faiths, Christians
and Muslims or others, in a lawful manner without fear or
hindrance and to prosecute those who use religion as an excuse to
destroy homes, schools and places of worship. When governments fail in that duty, they must then
assist in the rebuilding of structures including destroyedBplaces of
worship and giving full restitution for lost property. We, Nigerians, are a religious people, and the
burning of places of worship constitutes one of the vilest forms
of abomination to all those who believe in God. It is the duty
of governments to protect this important sensitivity.
Let me state this categorically, that I, Muhammadu Buhari, as an individual, and as president of this
great country by the grace of God, given the opportunity to serve, have no personal religious agenda. And I will not entertain, consider or promote the religious agenda of
anyone. I will not condone any initiative that seeks to promote one
religion over the other. Neither I, nor my party, or any member of my team has any desire or plan to
Islamize or Christianize Nigeria or support anyone with such intention,
he said.

Singles Only: 7 Ways To Celebrate That Presumed Inauspicious VALENTINE Day

With less than 40-hours to Valentine day in Nigeria, my only admonishment to the singles among us is to keep the Valentine day absolutely simple.

I’m not going to tell you to go roast a chicken for one, or to take yourself on an awesome date, wandering the street of Lagos with an audio tour and then dining at the counter at Four-point hotel with some Pinot, your iPad, and half of your dignity intact.

But if you indeed feel like the company of other humans will do you good, or if you need a cleansing ritual of some kind to get over your ex, sfist publication have given us a few suggestions that will make you sing that ‘Dead and Gone’ song to your ex.

1. Print out some photos of your ex, take them down to a pier, rip them in pieces and scatter them in the Bay.

I am not actually endorsing littering, or pollution, but I also can not endorse lighting them on fire during a drought.

2. Go do some exercise.

If you’re the athletic type, and especially if you’re newly single, this could do you good, Give yourself some exercise cause to have your heart broken. And not just broken; shattered, into itsy bitsy tiny little pieces, by a girl who never loved you and never will. It might just get you in the best shape of your life.

3. Begin your bender on Thursday, and by Sunday you’ll barely remember a thing.

Again, I’m not encouraging unsafe behavior. But let’s say you’re a gay male and you enjoy a quirky dance party now and again. You could go to the second installment of Kittens, a new Thursday weekly at Oasis, this one dubbed the Stray Cats Ball. You could have a few beers, perhaps make out with someone, perhaps even go home with someone, then lather, rinse, and repeat on Friday

And then spend Saturday day-drinking and pass out happily in your bed by 7 p.m.!

4. Go to that pillow fight thing.

It’s big. It’s messy. It’s youthful. The cops and clean-up crew hate it. But if you’ve never been, by all means.

5. Eat your way through it.

I’m not advocating taking yourself on any dates. But there are a few places and events where you can bring a friend, and you aren’t likely to be faced with roomfuls of happy/pretend-happy couples doing their V-Day due diligence before going home to have routine, joyless sex. You can also eat yourself to stupor or you can probably grab a seat at the bar or a communal table and chow down on some of her Mulato chile-braised short ribs before blacking out on margaritas.

6. Go hide out at the movies and cry.

It’s a good night for movies, and you surely have a friend who can go with you if you prefer not going to the movies by yourself. Get yourself to the Silverbird Galleria and watch a kool action movie. Do not, under any circumstances see Romeo & Juliet. If you do, then you’ll be emotionally assassinated.

7. Seriously, it’s going to be beautiful out there. Get over yourself.

It’s going to be sunny and 70 all weekend. Everybody’s going to be in a good mood except for your roommate Bill who’s never in a good mood and who still reads the Drudge Report.

Go to the beach with a gang and build a bonfire when the sun goes down. Go up to wine country. Go volunteer at a homeless shelter to prove that there are people who are way worse off than you (and just because it’s a worthwhile thing to do on days that aren’t Thanksgiving).

I don’t know. It’s going to be fine, alright? We’ll get through this you and I. We always do.

Ent News: Manchester United Debt Rises To €515 million Share2

Manchester United have been hit hard by their lack of participation in this season’s champions league as their debt rose to 515 million Euros in 2014

The premier league giants’ revenue went down14 percent over the last twelve months mainly due to a lack of broadcast revenue and owing to the outlandish outlay on summer transfer acquisitions, Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind. Despite signing a jersey deal with Adidas and a sponsorship deal with Chevrolet and HTC, Manchester United’s debt still found a way to rise beyond the 443 million euros that it was last year.

Manchester United’s chief executive, Ed Woodward was still upbeat about Manchester United’s financial chances as he cited the new Barclays Premier leagues broadcast deal as well as a few deals that Manchester United are set to sign in coming weeks, the former JP Morgan banker still believes that Manchester United need Champions league football.

Manchester United are back to third position in the premier league after Wednesday’s win over Burnley and would be looking to hold on to their position till the end of the season at least.

Ent News: TY Bello speaks on waiting for 9yrs to have a child, her struggle with Endometriosis, IVF & motherhood experience

Celebrity photographer and singer, TY Bello who welcomed a set of twin boys in October 2014 after waiting for 9 years, recently sat down with Genevieve mag where she opened up about her struggles with Endometriosis, dealing with pressures from friends and family to get pregnant, the rumors that she didn't carry her pregnancy herself and the birth of her twin babies.

TY, who revealed she went through IVF to conceive her boys, said the journey to pregnancy was a very intense one for her. I bought a copy of Genevieve mag and typed out some of the Q&A. Read after the cut

"My journey to pregnancy was a very intense one. I had just been through the toughest nine years of trying to get pregnant, being confident that it would be a breeze since I had always known that I would make a great mother. It was quite humbling when it didn't happen as I had envisioned it. It was grueling actually" she said
TY says she had always joked about having twin boys to make up for the lost time of motherhood and that she never knew God was listening to her.
"At first we didn't know I was carrying twins. When I was going for my test, I didn't feel pregnant. Before I went, I heard in my spirit, 'Wear something nice'. I questioned the voice and wondered if it was nice to dress so nicely and get disappointed, setting myself for a heartbreak. In the end, I obeyed. I decided in my mind that whether I was pregnant or not, I was not going to stop believing. My doctor was very dramatic about the announcement too. She screamed so much we couldn't even decipher her words. I had a delayed reaction as her words wouldn't sink in. It was overwhelming, We were truly happy and couldn't stop crying. I  remember two people, Pastors Obi Pax Harry and Angela Ashong telling me matter-of-factly that I was going to have twins. It happened to the detail. My friends know how I have always made it a joke about having twin boys to make up for lost time. I wanted boys because I joked that I was an eternal fourteen year old lanky boy myself and so we would all get along. I can't believe God was listening. It was few months before we could confirm that we were having boys"
TY says she discovered that a long standing undiagnosed battle with Endometriosis was responsible for her delay in pregnancy
"In perfect timing though, two older friends of mine, Dr Odaga and Mrs Morin Desalu came into our lives and helped us be more proactive in our journey to becoming parents. What started with dark clouds took a turn. For instance when Aunty Morin whisked my husband and I to see her doctor at George's hospital. We discovered that a long standing yet undiagnosed battle with Endometriosis was responsible and I just assumed I had the worst period pains. Shortly after that, through Dupe Kupoluyi, we met a fantastic doctor named Yemisi Bero at the Arc Clinic who became our fertility doctor. I went through my IVF cycle with her, probably in the middle of the busiest seasons in my career. I remember jabbing myself at airports sometimes just to keep with the schedule as I worked like crazy. Sometimes I think I stayed so ridiculously busy just to keep my mind off the difficult process. To the glory of God, that cycle was successful and everything inside of me screamed for me to slow downed but I didn't just know how. I decided to start a pregnancy journal and instinctively titled it "Quiet Streams" Immediately I knew then that everything was going to change and it did. It was like a switch was flipped and my body went rest mood"
Asked if there were pressures from family and friends during the wait for her babies, she said
"Oh you can't even begin to imagine. Society and even your personal fears can pressure you before a desire manifests. In our society, as with most, once you hit a four year mark after your wedding, everyone around you starts to blare their alarm. Nine years? Now that was deafening. Every time I prayed, I knew everything was going to be fine and my life was in the course set for me. The pressure gets more difficult when you are trying and it isn't happening. It was important I turn a deaf ear sometimes. It was important that I didn't feed my doubts. Someone once said to me after the babies came, "You can't call your experience waiting, you were living your life to the full before their arrival". I explained that that was exactly my waiting experience. I always say that Christ came to die that we may have life and have life abundantly and that I want to live life to the maximum. If you allow yourself to sustain a state of misery because you don't have something, whether marriage, children or a dream career, then you can't have a full life. It is in the place of living outside of the tyranny of the desire that it comes to you in its full glory. I knew for sure I was born to be a great mum. I just wasn't sure on how it would play out but I knew it would happen nonetheless"
On the lowest points during her journey, TY said
"There were some tough days especially towards the end when I battled with thoughts that God had given me everything else I asked him for and that maybe this was the one thing I would have to let go of. I however knew deep down that this was untrue. I concluded that our desire for parenthood was persistent only because it was a prayer answered. Faith opened me up to the reality that God would answer me and I didn't need to hand-twist  him as to how. This was what helped open my heart to an IVF process in the first place "
On whether she ever considered adoption or surrogacy, she said
"We put every option on the table. It helped that we had so many friends who had gone through the different paths to parenthood. Ironically while trying, I had photographed a family that had tried for over a decade and had just welcomed a bay via a surrogate mother. I have done countless baby shoots before and I saw no difference between theirs and others. It was really comforting when I observed the bond was exactly the same across board. I also have friends that adopted children and they are not in anyway less happy. Motherhood is truly spiritual. I think considering other options isn't giving up but letting go. It's in this place that Miracles happen".
On the effect of the illness, Endometriosis during her pregnancy, she said;
"Endometriosis can make conception more tricky and difficult but I and countless other women stand as testament that it doesn't make it impossible. But at the end of the day, people react differently so its difficult to generalize. For me once my pregnancy progressed, it seized to be a major concern"
Addressing rumors that she did not carry her boys herself, that she engaged the services of a surrogate, TY said
"Funny enough I had a shoot during my pregnancy and the makeup artist who did my makeup during my maternity shoot was in a room where this was being thrown around and she couldn't stop laughing as she spent enough time with me when I was pregnant. I was blessed to have Kelechi Amadi-Obi make the photographs and it was special as he had photographed our wedding as well. Its beautiful to have your bump photographed in appreciation but not necessarily as evidence of your being with a child. There are women who would become mothers via adoption or surrogacy. The difference is insignificant. We all carry our children"
Her advice to women who are waiting for a child, TY said;
"Waiting of any kind can be very troubling. You can't imagine what a waiting woman goes through. I have sooken to may women and they described the process as getting an endless cycle of hope and disappointment. That is what breaks the spirit coupled with the stigma, especially in this part of the world. My advice is to never let go of the desire to be parents as God himself put it there. Celebrate the fact that you are alive and never take it for granted. Give yourself permission to experience joy, to dream and fulfill purpose as you wait. It adds value to the type of parent you become. It is always worth it in the end"

Man rapes woman at knife point while her boyfriend lies next to her in bed

You know how they say the truth is stranger than fiction? Well, this is one of those true life strange stories. The man pictured above, 54 year old Tilfert Vaughn, was arrested this past Sunday Feb. 8th after breaking into the Phoenix home of a woman he’d seen at a bar and raped her at knifepoint while her boyfriend lay next to her 'frozen in fear,” according to a report by AZ Central
Police said the 27-year-old-woman woke up about 4 a.m. on Nov. 5 in her apartment near Glendale and 27th avenues when she noticed the bathroom light was on. After she asked her friend who was in there, reports show, the bathroom light shut off.
Police said the woman got out of bed and noticed someone behind the bathroom door, and when she opened the door further, she saw 54-year-old Tilfert D. Vaughn standing naked and holding a large serrated break knife, according to court records.

Vaughn made the woman lie down in the bed, and raped her while holding the knife to her throat, according to court documents.

The woman's 30-year-old friend woke up when Vaughn got in bed, and as the man struggled, his fingers came into contact with Vaughn's knife, causing deep wounds, reports show.

Investigators said the knife wounds on the man were deep enough to require surgery to repair the nerve damage he suffered.

Police said both victims feared Vaughn would kill them if they did not obey him.
After raping the woman, according to the documents, Vaughn told her, "Now you have a baby. Bless it and take care of it."

Vaughn then put his clothes on and left the apartment, according to reports.
Investigators also believe that Vaughn took several items from the couple's apartment, including sunglasses, toiletries, beer and food, and placed them in an empty apartment nearby before returning to assault the victims, according to court documents.

Investigators compiled information from the woman's forensic exam and surveillance videos from the apartment and a nearby bar before they were able to confirm Vaughn's identity through an anonymous source, according to court records. Police also requested a court order for Vaughn's DNA and matched it with physical evidence taken from the victim's forensic exam, according to court records.

Vaughn admitted to police of being in the area that night, but denied having sexual relations and contact with the victims, according to police reports.

Vaughn is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing next week. His court documents show he does not have a bail set because of the sexual-assault allegations
